Kaafi Necklace

£284

Handcrafted in 22k gold plated bronze, the Kaafi necklace is created using casted coffee beans grown by the tribeswomen of Araku Valley. On either side of the cluster of cast coffee beans are the Pathor studs, reminiscent of pendants worn by the tribeswomen of Araku Valley, the thick green beads call to mind the dark green leaves of the coffee plant and the forests of Araku Valley. Proceeds from the sale of this piece will be donated to the Naandi Foundation, a charitable organisation that has works alongside the tribal communities and farmers in the region.

Named after Araku, the region that inspired it, this collection is full of some of the most meaningful pieces I’ve designed. The inspiration came from my experience of the coffee plantation of Araku valley in the Eastern Ghats of India.

There, I witnessed a story of transformation, progress and prosperity like I had never experienced before. A story of how a collective of tribal farmers put India on the global coffee map.
